BUD DAY
1931 - 1998
Albert Ray Day, beloved husband of Kay Day of Taber, passed away on Saturday, January 3, 1998 after fighting a lengthy illness at the age of 66 years.
Bud was born in Taber on June 27, 1931, the seventh child of Lester and Sara Day. Receiving his education in Taber, he met Kathleen Zelenka in his early teens and the two were married years later on October 30, 1952. They shared forty five wonderful years of marriage together. Bud held various jobs in the Taber area before moving his family to Tilley in 1965. There he was very community minded and enjoyed volunteering his time and organizational skills for many activities. He loved to socialize and had a large circle of friends. He worked for Koch Oil, Bow River Pipelines and finally with Chevron Canada for ten years before retiring. Bud and Kay moved back to Taber in 1993 where they resided in Harmony Home apartments making many new friends there. In September of 1995 due to increasing health problems, Bud took residence in the Taber Continuing Care facility. Bud was best known for enormous sense of humour and his joke telling abilities. He kept in contact with special friends he made over the years and always had a special place in his heart for all of his grandchildren and very much enjoyed family gatherings.
Besides his loving wife Kay, Bud is also survived by his children Dale (Barb) of Medicine Hat, Lester (Dawn) of Calgary, Diane (Rick) of Stettler, Kathy (Bob) of Tilley, David (Carol) of Taber, Judy (Cody) of Tangent and Betty (Darcy) of Tilley; seventeen grandchildren Kelly, Alexandra, James, Amber, Julie, Matthew, Ricky, Shauna, Tim, Bradley, Ashley, Katie, Billy, Samantha, Megan, Scott and Catlyn; three great-grandsons, Aeryk, Cameron and Dylan as well as numerous relatives and friends.
The Funeral Service was held at Knox United Church, 4929 - 50 Avenue, Taber on Tuesday, January 6, 1998 at 2:00 P.M. with Reverend Ken Crassweller officiating.
